About
Family Shepherd Ministries purposes to give hope, help and encouragement to Christian families and churches from a soundly biblical perspective. To get started, we recommend that you read our article, “The Sufficiency of Scripture: By What Standard?”
Family Shepherd Ministries has undertaken several projects over the past 25 years. ChristianCourtship.com was an information and networking site for Christian parents. Though it is currently unavailable, most of the original articles are included in our free online book: “God’s Design for Scriptural Romance.” ProdigalHope.com, our newest project, is a website-in-the-making, soon to be available.
Family Shepherd’s founder, John Thompson, was a home-schooling father since 1983, a church pastor for 20 years, and the first director of the National Center for Family-Integrated Churches (www.NCFIC.org). John has taught extensively on the family-integrated church, the busy father as family shepherd, and the benefits of home education and home business. A graduate in biblical counseling under Dr. Jay Adams at Westminster Seminary and student of theology at Dallas Seminary, he has been a keynote speaker at numerous state and national home-school conventions, Christian camps and other conferences since 1985. As a contributing writer to The Teaching Home, Home School Digest and Patriarch Magazine, he authored several acclaimed articles, some of which are available on this website. John and his wife Dawn live in Asheville, North Carolina, where John “tent-makes” as Chief Operating Officer for an international datacenter company.
